Important information about the transfer of personal information, to students in the housing queue at Studentbostadsservice

We are writing to inform you about an important change to the student housing queue at
studentbostadsservice.se that will affect your account and personal information.


At the end of the year 2025, SBS (Studentbostäder i Norden AB) will take over the housing agency and housing queue for all their student housing in Luleå, and therefore provide the housing queue and key pickup services that are currently provided by Studentbostadsservice (Teknologkåren). The transition over from Studentbostadsservice to SBS will occur during fall 2025, and after the transition your personal information will be moved over to and processed by SBS so that they are able to continue providing the housing agency service.


How does this affect you?
You who hold an active account with Studentbostadsservice will retain your queue days, and your account will automatically be moved over to SBS in November 2025. When the move is complete, you will receive an email from SBS about how to proceed with your new account. If you have signed in to your account at least once during the past 12 months, your account will be automatically moved over, otherwise it will be automatically deleted in accordance with our privacy policy. The transition will start on 1 November 2025.


What do you need to do now?
To keep your queue days and move your account over, all you have to do is make sure you have signed in to your account at studentbostadsservice.se at least once since 1 November 2024. After 1 November 2025, you will receive an email from SBS about how to complete the transition. If you do not want your personal information to be shared with SBS, sign in to “My pages”/”Mina sidor” and delete your account on or before 31 October 2025.


How do you access your account?
To sign in to your account, go to studentbostadsservice.se and enter your email and password in the box on the right side of the screen. If you do not remember your password, reset it by going to www.studentbostadsservice.se/passwordreminder. If you need any further assistance, you are welcome to contact us via email, by phone or by visiting us in “Studenternas hus” during our business hours.

What will happen to your personal information?
If you have an active account with Studentbostadsservice, information about your account will be shared with SBS (sbsstudent.se). The information that is shared includes your name, Swedish personal number, email address and other contact information as well as the amount of registered days in the queue. Information about previous housing offers will not be shared. After the transition, all remaining personal information from studentbostadsservice.se will be removed. If you remove your account before 1 November 2025, no personal information will be shared with SBS. After the transition, your personal information will be handled in accordance with SBS’ privacy policy (https://sbsstudent.se/hyresgast/integritetspolicy/).

Studentbostäder i Norden AB has the following requirements to be able to rent a student housing from them:

 

You're going to:
• Be a full-time student during your stay, i.e. studies comprising at least 30 credits per
semester of which you must pass at least 15 credits per semester, at university,
college or equivalent. You also have the right to apply for 2 semesters of study leave
by emailing info@sbsstudent.se. After the end of your studies, you either need to
continue with your 30 credits or terminate your housing contract.
 

 

If you have applied for an education that meets these requirements, but not yet started the studies, you can still apply for our avalaible housing already. As long as you can show that you have applied for an education starting autumn 2025.

 


 

Are you going to pick up your key? 

You can get it from us at Studentbostadsservice (click here for a link to Google Maps) during our open hours (you can find our open ours under "Contact"). To pick up the key you need to bring your ID, and we might also need to see the contract (signed by you and STUSAB). It's okay to show the contract in your phone/on your computer. 

 


 

Changes in the Housing Queue

Due to the new GDPR we have made some changes when it comes to updating the housingqueue at Studentbostadsservice.

This means that:

  • The update twice a year is no longer valid, instead You have to log in to Your profile at least once during a 12 month period. If an log in has not been made then Your account and queue time will be erased.
     
  • You can now deregister Your account by loging in to Your profile under My pages and Your Account.

Other regulations regarding the Housing Queue:  

  • If You don´t answer on an offer You loose Your queue time.
     
  • When You have rejected 6 housing offers You loose Your queue time. (The "No" that counts are the "No" that You have actively chosen)

When you have lost Your queue time You will get a nes date from the next time that You log in to Your profile.

 


 

How our Housing Queue and intermediation of apartments work

We publish the available apartments on our webiste, You will find them under "Available housings". The apartments will be on the website for making interest during a limited time. This means that You have to be active in Your search of housing.

This means that:

  • If You are interested in an available apartemnt then You have to log in to Your profile at www.studentbostadsservice.se to make interest and You have to have the status " I am accepted".
     
  • When the time for making interest on an available apartement has been closed then we will send an offer by email to the 3-5 students that have the longest queuetime. Be aware of that some email accounts sort our emails in unwanted, campaign or junkmail.
     
  • You can make interest on as many available apartments as You want, but You can only get 3 offer at once and if You are nr 1 on the offers You can only accept one of the offers.

  • You can delete the interest as long as the time of making interest is open.
